Family members have confirmed the name of the elderly man who died in a house fire in Mason County.
Dallas Chapman, 86, died in the blaze Friday in Whitten Ridge in the southern end of the county. The Mason County Sheriff's Department said a propane tank exploded behind the residence, catching it on fire.
Multiple fire departments responded to the incident. Two firefighters were treated at the scene for heat-related illness.
The West Virginia Fire Marshal's Office said Friday that an elderly male has died in a house fire in Mason County.
Multiple fire departments were responding to the blaze in Whitten Ridge in the southern end of the county. The Mason County Sheriff's Department said a propane tank exploded behind the residence, catching it on fire.
Two firefighters were treated on the scene for heat-related illness. Firefighters said the temperature was about 93 degrees when they arrived on the scene of the blaze.

The Mason County Sheriff's Department said an elderly man was trapped inside a home after a propane tank exploded.
The incident happened in Whitten Ridge in the southern end of Mason County, Mason County Sheriff's Department Capt. Charlie Stearns said. Stearns said the propane tank exploded behind the structure, catching it on fire.
Multiple fire departments were responding to the blaze.
