People living in Kanawha County will vote on a new levy in November.
The Kanawha County School Board made the decision to present an excess levy to the people of Kanawha County.
Four of the five members voted in favor of the levy, which will provide $37 million over the next five years.
If the levy were to not pass in November, the board will be forced to make some cuts.
“I don't believe we should tell the taxpayer what they should or shouldn't support, but I do believe that they ought to be educated and have the opportunity to make that decision for themselves,” school board member Bill Ragland said.
