High school dancers from Charleston will get an opportunity of a lifetime early next year when their group performs at the 80th anniversary of the Sugar Bowl.
Students with the Capital High School Dance Company have been invited to perform for the Jan. 2, 2014, event at the Superdome in New Orleans. The Charleston dancers will represent West Virginia during the half-time show.
Dancers from across the nation will get the chance to work with the "So You Think You Can Dance" contestant and choreographer Travis Wall.
The dancers have a lot of work to do before show time, including working to raise money to get there. The trip costs $1,430 per dancer. The Capital High Dance Company has managed to commit $130 per dancer, which leaves the cost for each dancer at $1,300, Director Michelle Legg said.
Twenty dancers from the company are planning to participate, Legg said.
You can help make this once-in-a-lifetime trip a reality for these young performers by sponsoring a dancer or donating to the dance company.
Checks can be made to CHSDC (Capital High School Dance Company) c/o A. Michelle Legg and mailed to 1500 Greenbrier Street Charleston, WV 25311.
Make sure to include "Donation" in the memo line and if you want to donate to a particular dancer, include his or her name as in the memo section as well.
