A man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he intentionally struck a Greenup County, Kentucky, sheriff’s deputy with his truck.
Bradley A. Cordle, 32, of Flatwoods, Ky., was arrested Wednesday for allegedly hitting Deputy Ryan Houston at a traffic stop with a truck, a news release from the sheriff's office said. Houston suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Our Lady of Belfonte Hospital.
The suspect allegedly fled the scene, and an officer with the Greenup Police Department tried to pursue him, the release said. The suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole on Kentucky State Route 2.
In addition to the charges Cordle faces in connection with the incident, he also had outstanding warrants on unrelated charges. He is being held at the Greenup County Detention Center.
This is the second time in two weeks that a Greenup County sheriff's deputy was struck by a vehicle. Deputy Matthew Smith was responding to an accident when he was struck Oct. 18.
