A man living in the country illegally has been indicted on rape charges in Scioto County.
Anselmo R. Soria, 50, of Portsmouth was charged with three counts of rape, with one count including a sexually violent predator specification, the Scioto County Prosecutor's Office said. A Scioto County grand jury indicted Soria on the charges Monday.
The Scioto County Sheriff's Department arrested the suspect July 8 after a 16-year old had reportedly been raped for several years, the sheriff's department said. Detectives said the suspect was living in the country illegally for more than 15 years.
Deputies said a man who was living illegally in the United States has been charged with the rape of a teenager in Scioto County.
Anselmo R. Soria, 50, of Portsmouth was charged with one count of rape. The Scioto County Sheriff’s Department said that it received a report that a 16-year old girl had been sexually assaulted for several years, according to news release from the department. Detectives spoke with the victim on Monday who was being treated at an area hospital. Detectives arrested the suspect after he came to the hospital and was questioned.
Detectives said they may have found additional victims during the investigation and that additional charges may be pending following a case with the Scioto County grand jury. Detectives said that the suspect was living in the U.S. illegally for the past 15 years. Bond for Soria was asset at $100,000.
