For one local soldier wounded in the line of duty, Independence Day also acted as a homecoming.
For Adam and Katelynn Frazier, the Fourth of July holiday this year has a little more significance.
It was a homecoming for a soldier who has been through a lot.
Adam was hospitalized after a suicide bomb attack while fighting in Afghanistan. Two other soldiers were killed. To him, they were two friends.
"I’m a little bit shaken,” he said, referring to one of the soldiers. “He has a baby due in August."
It’s something he can now relate to. Just this week, he found out that he and Katelynn are going to have a baby, all the more reason they are thankful to be together again.
The family celebrates freedom, something Adam said he's always willing to put his life on the line for.
"I'm doing this for my country, so we can stay safe and grill out today," he said.
