Charleston , Kanawha County , West Virginia
A quick moving storm tore the area Thursday, and with the grass already soaked, it caused several trees to topple over.
Crews were out repairing power lines and trying to restore power to nearly 2,000 customers in Kanawha County.
The 2100 block of Greenbrier Street near the intersection of Brook Hill Road was closed as downed trees and power lines covered the roadway.
The road was expected to be back open around midnight.
A massive tree toppled over on a home along Washington Avenue and 40th Street in Kanawha City.
“Looks like probably a total loss to me,” homeowner Freddie Combs said. “The tree’s completely through the family room, the back bedroom. I'm not sure how much damage. Then there is water in the basement, so it's pretty much total and all our clothing and personal items are in those two rooms, and we can't get to them because the tree is resting on those rooms.”
There were also reports of trees down along Kanawha Boulevard in Charleston and along North Pinch Road.
The storm also produced some large hail about the size of a dime.
