The Federal Aviation Administration said federal budget cuts could force them to close 149 air traffic control towers at small airports around the country, including some in West Virginia.
The agency announced the decision Friday, just a month after it released a preliminary list of facilities that could be closed.
The move affects airports in Lewisburg, Bridgeport, Wheeling and Parkersburg.
All of the airports will remain open, but pilots will have to coordinate takeoffs and landings with larger airport towers and each other over a shared radio frequency.
