Fayette deputies said two attempted burglars were chased away from a home when a child unleashed the family dog on them.
Two males, both wearing hooded black sweatshirts, attempted to force entry into a residence on O’Possum Creek Road near Hico early Friday afternoon, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
A young child, who was home alone at the time, locked herself in a room and set the family’s dogs loose on the suspects, who fled the residence.
The suspects were said to have left the scene in a green van with a black rear hatch door. Deputies said the van could possibly have been a Dodge Caravan, and may have had the registration 6UR827.
One of the men was described as having a closely trimmed white or blond beard. A red-headed female was reported to have been driving the van, which fled in the direction of Milroy Grose Road.
Anyone who may have any information on the incident or the three suspects is asked to call authorities at 304-574-3590 or crime stoppers at 304-255-7867. Information can also be submitted on the Crime Tips section of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department website or the department’s Facebook page.
