From education to the military, many programs are the latest victims in budget cuts in hopes of slowing down the federal spending.
This move from Congress has been called the sequester and it took effect on March 1.
The sequester came from the Budget Control Act of 2011. It affects domestic and defense programs.
On the defense side, the military has already suffered from the sequester budget cuts. Local troops have started training in state, rather than going out of state because of lack of funding. Also, the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard and Marines have all suspended their tuition assistance programs.
Domestic programs like unemployment funds and Medicare are affected.
According to Rasmussen Reports, about 40% of likely U.S. voters now think President Obama and Congress should stop the so-called sequester spending cuts.
So Eyewitness News took to the streets to find out if you know what the sequester is, and what you think about the government's move.
