Flood warnings were in effect for southern Ohio, northern West Virginia and in eastern Kentucky. Eyewitness News Meteorologist Jim Barach said the flood warning is in effect until 4:30 p.m. Monday in those areas, which means that some flooding is already occurring in those areas. Northern Wayne County is in the warning area. Meanwhile, Barach said there is a flash flood watch through tonight for most of the Eyewitness News viewing area through Monday evening. He said that means there is the potential for flooding. Counties in the flood watch area include Kanawha, Putnam, Lincoln, the remainder of Wayne County not in the flood warning area, Clay, Roane, Braxton and Calhoun counties. Roane County schools let out two hours early Monday due to anticipated flooding. The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings and watches for several parts of eastern Kentucky, southern Ohio and some areas of western West Virginia. A flash flood warning has been issued for Lewis County, Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence counties in Ky., Gallia, Lawrence, and Scioto counties in Ohio, and Cabell, Wayne, Mason, and Putnam counties in West Virginia. There are reports of flooding issues on roads in Carter and Greenup counties. In Carter County, Route 174 just south of Olive Hill was closed due to high water flowing across the road. Also, Sammons Hollow Road was impassable due to high water across the roadway, and U.S. 60 near Globe was closed due to high water crossing the roadway. In Greenup County, Pond Run Road between Raceland and Worthington was closed due to high water, the National Weather Service said. In West Virginia, Putnam 911 said some flooding was reported in front of the Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Some flooding also was expected over some roadways in Winfield. Mason County was reporting some flooding in Crab Creek in Gallipolis Ferry. Those in flood prone areas should be prepared to take action. MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
