Huntington police are seeking help in finding the man they said led them on a chase from Hal Greer Boulevard to the scene of a 26th Street crash, and then ran off Friday morning.

Police are searching for Dominique Jamarr Nelson, 24, of Columbus.

Nelson is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

Nelson allegedly hit a wall and a fence on two separate properties when he crashed the car.

Michael Simmons Friday morning started off like most, but when he returned home from a trip to the store about 11:30 a.m., things took a much different turn.

"It was scary," Simmons said. "I didn't know what was going on so it was pretty scary. When I came back, I saw this going on. Guy hit my wall."

The driver of a rental car led Huntington police on a chase from Hal Greer Boulevard to 26th Street and 10th Avenue, where he crashed the car and then ran off. Police had attempted to pull the driver over after a traffic violation.

The driver not only hit Simmons' wall, but also Angela Smith's fence.

"It's very upsetting. Man up. Pay for what you've done," Smith said.

Smith said the fence protects her young grandchildren and her family's dogs, and she feels violated after the crash.

"This is our family home," she said. "People do drive quite fast down this road. There are a lot of kids on this road, and I'm afraid someone's going to get hurt."

Simmons said he had to foot the bill for the wall being hit before, and he's not counting on anyone taking responsibility for this crash.

"I felt it was wrong he hit my wall, but things happen," Simmons said. "What are you going to do?"

Police searched the area for awhile after the accident, but did not find the driver.

If you have any information about what happened, call police at 304-696-4444.

A driver has crashed after a brief pursuit with police in Huntington.

The pursuit reportedly began about 11 a.m. Friday and ended when the driver crashed in the 11th Avenue and 26th Street area.

Dispatchers said no one was injured. Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for updates on this story.
