Workers for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers met Thursday night to discuss federal cutbacks.
Members of the American Federation of Government Employees Union and workers at locks, dams, reservoirs, and parks across the region met in Barboursville.
They voted on whether or not they want the union to continue negotiating with the Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The union is preparing for a 22-day furlough brought about by the sequester, and people living in the flood plains said that a loss of manpower during flood season could be deadly.
The union of more than 300 workers hasn't gotten orders of furloughs yet, but is expected to.
