The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development has offered a grant to help fund new cruisers for the Johnson County Sheriff's Department.
The USDA has agreed to supply a grant of $20,210 toward the purchase of two police vehicles, according to a news release from the agency. The Johnson County Fiscal Court along with the sheriff's department will provide $37,534 toward the $57,744 total cost of the vehicles.
The agency estimates that more than 4,100 residents of Johnson County will benefit from the added vehicles.
