More hits are coming to the Kanawha Public Library because of a ruling by the state Supreme Court. The library board voted Monday evening to cut the West Virginia Book Festival.
The book festival is a multi-day event that in the past brought in best-selling authors such as Nicholas Sparks. It had been scheduled this year for Oct. 19 and 20.
The library board voted unanimously to cancel the event after the Supreme Court ruled that the Kanawha County school board is no longer responsible to contribute to the library's budget. The public library is losing about $3 million because of that ruling.
