The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department arrested four people after they said they discovered a meth lab in an apartment complex.
Roberta L. Boyd, 43, Nathan D. Boyd, 24, William Gore, 45, all of South Point, and Tyler Adkins, 19, of Chesapeake were charged with manufacturing illegal drugs Thursday.
Sheriff Jeff Lawless said they received a report of a strange smell coming from an apartment complex at 223 Township Road in South Point at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. Deputies said they could smell the odor coming from apartment number 30 in the complex and found a "shake and bake" meth lab inside.
Lawless said tenants in the connecting apartments had to be evacuated while the meth lab was cleaned up. Deputies from the Gallia County Sheriff's Office who were trained in meth lab disposal had to be called to dispose of the lab.
The sheriff said another arrest could be pending and the suspects could face additional charges. A minor also was inside of the apartment at the time.
