The Charleston Fire Department is helping one of its own celebrate years of service.
After 20 years in the department, Lt. Lydia Pottroff is retiring. She is the first female in the Charleston Fire Department to take the same test as the men and the first to rank. On Wednesday, she was surrounded by and celebrated with those she calls her heroes.
Pottroff said she plans to kick back and relax while still sometimes cooking for the fire department.
