Parkersburg detectives made a major drug bust and arrested a man who federal agents confirmed is an illegal immigrant from Mexico.
Jesus Alfredo Alverado-Aboyte, 30, was charged with one felony count of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver after a search warrant was served at 1324 Avery St. about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Parkersburg Police Department.
During a search of the home, officers discovered more than 100 pounds in marijuana, an estimated $20,000 in cash and a handgun that was reported stolen out of the Bridgeport area. A bulletproof vest also was found in the home. Detectives located numerous other items consistent with drug distribution and are in the process of officially seizing multiple vehicles.
Alverado-Aboyte, who was confirmed by federal agents as being an illegal immigrant, was arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court and held on a $75,000 bond.
Meanwhile, Alverado-Aboyte’s wife also was being charged with felony possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver. Dawn Star Aboyte, 25, will be arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court upon completion of her processing at police headquarters.
