A Kentucky man is facing felony charges in Cabell County after detectives investigated a violent attack of a mother and child.
Mylon Downs, 30, of Salt Lick, Ky., was arrested on Monday and charged with attempted sexual assault, child abuse, burglary and two counts of battery.
Investigators said the alleged attack happened in July 2012. The victim said she had been separated from the suspect for two years and said he forced his way into her home in Huntington, according to a criminal complaint filed at Cabell Magistrate Court.
The complaint said the suspect attacked the woman while her daughter tried to help her mother. In the struggle, the suspect allegedly picked the child up by the hair and stepped on the child's foot.
The victim said the suspect took their phones to prevent them from dialing 911 and made them drive him to Kentucky, the complaint said. While stopped at a gas station, the suspect allegedly got out and the victims drove off.
Downs was extradited from his home in Montgomery County in Kentucky. Downs was being held at the Western Regional Jail and bond is set at $170,000.
