Ever wish you could get help from police from your smartphone? There is an app for that very thing.
The Nitro Police Department has announced its newest crime fighting tool that's available at the tip of your fingers. The app can be downloaded for free from your Android or iPhone, by searching for "My Police Department" or "MyPD," from the phone's marketplace.
The police app includes a couple of dozen features, some of which allow users to submit a tip, contact the department via phone, Twitter or Facebook. Meanwhile, the app allows the department to push notifications and alerts to the public.
The app allows you to search by city and state to find any department that has been set up on the platform. To find Nitro's, just search Nitro Police Department.
If you do have a true emergency, officers urge you to call 911.
For more app information, log onto the Nitro Police Department's Facebook page and the MyPD app website at http://MyPDapp.com.
