Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect who rammed his vehicle into a patrol car, fled during a vehicle pursuit and escaped on foot after abandoning the car.
Deputies responded about 11:40 p.m. Sunday to the Rich Oil Station at 2900 Sissonville Drive after the burglar alarm was activated, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived within a short time and made search for the suspect. They came across a male in a dark colored car on Falcon Drive. When they made their approach, the car accelerated, striking the patrol car driven by Cpl. W.C. Moyers.
The car fled, running Sgt. B.E. Borchers off of the road. A long chase ensued through Eden’s Fork to Big Chimney and then to Charleston. Finally, the driver drove to the Cliff View Drive area where he parked the car and fled on foot.
Damage to the patrol cars will be assessed. A check of the Pontiac Grand Prix car revealed it had been stolen from Bill’s Auto Sales in Clendenin on Feb. 28.
The investigation continues, and anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy J.M Martin at 304- 357-0169.
