The debate over gun control continues in Washington. Meanwhile, gun sales are continuing at a rapid pace in our region.

A record crowd attended a gun show in Cannonsburg, Ky. Sunday, as the push for tighter gun laws continues.

"Everyone's scared they don't know what’s going to happen," said Billy Abner of Cannonsburg.

Larry Kitchen has been a gun salesman for years. He said the “run on guns” has been good for his business, but the demand has been so high, that manufactures can't keep up.

"They don’t know if they are going to be able to buy a gun tomorrow,” Kitchen said. “That’s why they’re here buying guns today.”

Buyers here said they already follow the rules and regulations currently in place to make sure a deadly weapon doesn't fall into the wrong hands, and said they don't understand the proposed ban on assault rifles and high capacity magazines.

Gun traders at the show said the solution could be in in the background checks.

"We do an FBI background check on the phone,” Kitchen said.

Everyone has their own solution, but the people here are stocking up for what they said is their own worst case scenario.

The debate over gun control continues in Washington, but, meanwhile, here at home, gun sales are continuing at a rapid pace.

There was a gun show Sunday in eastern Kentucky, and exhibitors said on-the-spot background checks were done for everyone purchasing a gun at the show. They said they don't see the need for more regulation.

Store owners said the recent push for gun regulation has caused a local ‘run on guns.'

"They don’t know if they are going to be able to buy a gun tomorrow,” said gun salesman Larry Kitchen. “That’s why they’re here buying guns today."

Organizers said more than a thousand people attended the gun show in Cannonsburg, which is a record.

President Barack Obama has proposed an assault weapons ban and more stringent background checks for those purchasing guns.
