State Police have released the name of the driver killed when his tractor-trailer flipped over on Interstate 77 north near Bluefield.
Lester Walker Jr., 48, of Connellsville, Pa., died in the accident that occurred about 9 a.m. The wreck occurred about 3 1/2 miles from the East River Mountain Tunnel.
State Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer was killed Friday morning when his rig flipped over on Interstate 77 north near Bluefield.
The accident happened about 9 a.m. about 3 1/2 miles from the East River Mountain Tunnel, State Police Sgt. D.W. Miller said. Miller said a witness said the load shifted on the truck and the vehicle flipped on its top.
A northbound lane was closed for 45 minutes, and a southbound lane was closed for 30 minutes while the accident was cleared.
One lane of Interstate 77 northbound and southbound near Bluefield was blocked after a tractor-trailer accident.
A 911 dispatcher in Mercer County said the accident happened about 9 a.m. and the rig flipped over. The dispatcher said one lane of I-77 was closed either way as crews worked to clear the scene.
The dispatcher said the status of injuries was unclear. State Police were investigating the accident.
