The Division of Highways will soon begin construction to make Interstate 64 near Huntington a six-lane roadway.
Work will begin in mid-March to widen the lanes between Exit 11 (16th Street) and Exit 15 (29th Street) on I-64, according to a news release from the Division of Highways. An additional lane on the median side of the roadway, median concrete barriers and replacing the Cedar Crest Bridge are included in the construction.
During construction, there will still be two-lane traffic eastbound and westbound between 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., drivers should expect some lane closures. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph through the work zone area.
The Division of Highways project the constructions completion by late September 2014.
