Two very special young men in Boone County have earned the honor of junior deputies for their work to protect the men and women who put their lives on the line each day.
Tyler Walls, 6, and Patrick Bryant, 9, raised money through what they called "Quarters for Cops" to help purchase bulletproof vests for deputies.
The boys presented the vest at the Boone County Commission meeting Tuesday night to Justin King, the newest Boone County deputy.
The two children traveled to local schools to raise money for the body armor and said they are very proud of their accomplishment.
"I found out on the news that two cops got killed and me and TJ (decided) to do Quarters for Cops," Bryant said. "We wanted to raise enough money to buy a cop a bulletproof vest, and we raised enough money to."
King said he is extremely thankful for the two boys' generosity.
