Voters hit the polls in Wirt County Saturday and passed a county operational levy.
71 percent voted for the levy. 29 percent voted against it.
The money will be used for county officials’ salaries and other county expenses. Wirt County is the only county in West Virginia with this type of operational levy.
With its passage, county officials will not have to make emergency cuts in the county's budget.
Voters in Wirt County went to the polls to decide on an operating levy Saturday.
The levy has been been rejected twice, but was back on the ballot. It would generate $200,000 per year to be used for employee salaries.
If the levy fails, the county budget will face a 25 percent cut. A 60 percent vote is required for passage of the levy.
