The East End Family Resource Center hosted their annual Heart and Soul Dip Dinner in Charleston Saturday to help out East End families.
Local businesses and churches donated comfort foods like fried chicken, ribs and pork.
People could buy a serving spoon for 50 cents and then dip out a portion of any dish they wanted.
All money will help support all of the programs the center uses to help area families succeed.
“The schools who participate and the children who come here are cared for from the end of school until 6:30 p.m.,” said Bonnie McClung, the chairperson of the dinner committee. “When parents are working, it's hard to provide good child care, and know that your kids are safe and really working hard.”
The East End Family Resource Center, located in the Roosevelt Center on Ruffner Avenue, offers computer classes, GED training, resume assistance and family fun nights.
