Two water buffaloes found in Jackson County have a new place to call home for now.
The West Virginia Department of Agriculture moved the buffaloes, named Millie and Gus, to the herd they keep at the Lakin Correctional Center.
The cow and the male calf now have a barn and a nice large yard for them to stretch their legs.
Buddy Davidson from the West Virginia Department of Agriculture said it took a bit of time to get them in.
"It took a little bit of time to get this animal corralled, but with some patience and some food, we finally got it comfortable in the spot near where it was spotted,” Davidson said. “We then moved it to a holding facility where we could keep it quarantined from other animals.”
