Freezing rain problems early Friday weren't as bad as expected in the viewing area, but were still blamed for some ice-related crashes.
A truck driven by Regina Long, 55, of Sissonville slid off of the Derricks Creek Road in Kanawha County about 5:30 a.m. The vehicle struck a tree, which along with a single strand of barbed wire, kept the pickup from plunging over a 40-foot embankment. Deputies blamed the Sissonville wreck on the weather and said Long's injuries were non-life threatening.
Other accidents were reported in Putnam, Greenbrier and Wood counties.
Meanwhile, the threat of ice delayed schools in several West Virginia counties Friday.
