The Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force arrested a man in Mineral Wells on drug charges Thursday.
Agents had received information regarding possible drug activity at the Mineral Wells Inn and had set up surveillance operations, according to a news release from the Parkersburg Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force.
Agents said Timothy James Thorne, 44, of Mineral Wells, was stopped in a Buick sedan, after the vehicle he was a passenger in was observed leaving the parking lot.
Agents said they found over $8,000 in cash during a search of Thorne. A background check revealed he was a multi-state offender with previous drug trafficking charges. He was convicted on an aggravated burglary charge in 1996.
Agents obtained a search warrant for Thorne’s hotel room, and said they discovered more than 18 grams of suspected heroin with a street value of $5,400 and a .380 Hi-Point handgun.
Thorne was taken into custody on charges of felony possession of heroin with intent to deliver and felon in possession of a firearm.
Thorne was transported to the Wood County Holding Center for processing and arraigned in Wood County Magistrate Court. He is being held on a $250,500 bond and is set to be transferred to the North Central Regional Jail.
Thorne was out on a $15,000 bond at the time of his arrest for a Jan. 5 arrest by the West Virginia State Police Parkersburg Detachment, where he was charged with possession of heroin with intent to deliver.
