The Gallia County Sheriff's Department released the name of a man who was shot by a deputy after an altercation that following a pursuit.
Ranon Brock, 36, of Dayton was allegedly shot in the arm by a deputy, but he was released from the hospital and is in police custody, Sheriff Joe Browning said.
Brock was allegedly involved in a pursuit with a deputy early Monday morning in the Springfield township. Brock was treated for his wound and is now being housed at the Gallia County Jail after there was an arrest warrant stemming from drug trafficking charges against him.
More charges against Brock could be pending.
An investigation is under way after a Gallia County Ohio sheriff's deputy was involved in a shooting after a pursuit.
A Gallia County deputy about 1 a.m. Monday spotted a suspicious vehicle on Scenic Drive in the Springfield Township, according to a news release from the Gallia County Sheriff's Office. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle when it sped off, the release said. Investigators said the car lost control and crashed into a ditch, while the deputy pinned it in with the police cruiser. An altercation ensued, and the deputy fired one round into the suspect's arm, according to the Sheriff's Department.
The suspect was taken to the Holzer Hospital for treatment and was released. The suspect was taken to jail on an outstanding warrant and could face further charges. The suspect's name is not being released at this time.
Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning requested an investigation of the incident from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
