Most of the snow has moved to the east of the Charleston-Huntington area and the region should only receive flurries through Sunday morning, according to Eyewitness News Meteorologist Brandon Stover. However, temperatures will be well below freezing and cause any moisture on roadways to freeze and conditions to remain hazardous.
Winter weather created hazardous driving conditions along the Charleston-Huntington corridor Saturday night.
Nine crashes were reported between Barboursville and Milton.
Kanawha County Metro 911 reported multiple crashes between Cross Lanes and Institute. Drivers were urged to avoid the area. Vehicles were reported stuck on highway and could not move.
In Putnam County, dispatchers said Interstate 64 was briefly shut down between the Teays Valley and Hurricane exits, but has since reopened.
Extreme caution is urged when driving throughout the region. Drivers should watch for black ice.
