A shake up at the Huntington Fire Department - Huntington Mayor Steve Williams announced earlier this week that he was replacing Chief Randy Ellis with Carl Eastham.
Eastham was retired and had previously spent 26 years with the fire department.
The mayor said, the move is not because Chief Ellis was doing a poor job, but because he wants someone more familiar with his style of governing.
"I want someone I know and have developed the ability to work with,” Williams said. “I have faith and he's been a valued for over a year now."
Eastham will be the interim chief, until city council will vote whether or not to approve him as permanent chief.
Huntington Mayor Steve Williams will relieve Fire Chief Randy Ellis of his duties and will name retired Huntington firefighter Carl Eastham as interim chief.
The move will take effect Monday, Feb. 18, Williams said. The mayor also will submit Eastham's name to City Council later this month for confirmation as the next chief.
