Charleston , Kanawha County , West Virginia

Witnesses say the driver of a silver sedan ran straight through a red light and crashed into a Kanawha County school bus.

The driver of that car is now in some serious trouble as police say it's a bus crash turned drug bust.

"No body was hurt. Everybody was ok. They were a little shook up, a little scared," said Westside Elementary principal Mellow Lee, "But they were alright, that's the main thing."

Lee is thankful no one was injured Thursday afternoon when a driver hit a Kanawha County school bus at the intersection of 4th Ave. and Stocken St. on Charleston's Westside.

Witnesses say the driver, 52-year-old Robert Pryor of Charleston, was driving suspiciously before the incident.

"I saw the bus turning left onto 4th Ave. and the light was red as red could be," said Alicia Simonton, who witnessed the wreck, "And he slammed right into the bus."

Pryor was arrested after police found 8 grams of Marijuana on him and a stolen motor vehicle inspection sticker.

Simonton was one of those who tried to help Pryor after seeing the wreck, not knowing of the drugs or stolen sticker and not knowing children were on the bus. But as she was helping Pryor, Simonton noticed something else

"Another person had already had him open all the doors and take his keys out and turn his engine off," said Simonton, "And I was looking in the back seat and I saw all those liquor bottles."

Now Simonton says she is concerned for the safety of the neighborhood children.

"If something as simple as this, what, you know, what else could happen. And in broad daylight where you can see the light is as red as red could be."

Pryor has been charged with two counts of simple drug possession and one count of receiving or transferring stolen goods.

Witnesses said the driver of a silver sedan ran straight through a red light and crashed into a Kanawha County school bus around 3 p.m. on Charleston's west side at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Stockton Street.

There were several students from Mary C. Snow West Side Elementary on the school bus at the time. None of them were hurt in the crash.

Police arrested that driver of the sedan and pulled several unopened bottles of what is believed to be alcohol from the car. It's unclear right now whether or not alcohol played a factor in this incident.

The driver of the car is being questioned by police. No charges have been filed.

No injuries were reported in an accident Thursday in Charleston involving a school bus and a car, Metro 911 said.

Children were on the bus when the accident occurred about 3:15 p.m. at Fourth and Stockton streets, a dispatcher said. The accident was in front of the Kanawha County Regional Transportation Authority.
