Some Ohio deputies are learning how to handle a gunman inside a school.
A drill took place in Pickaway County in conjunction with Franklin County deputies. Deputies went into the school and used what they learned in class on how to approach and protect school students.
Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Radcliff wants deputies to know how to respond to an active shooter like at Sandy Hook or Chardon.
“I want them to learn the safest way to approach and to be able to keep the toll of injured down to a minimum,” Radcliff said.
The sheriff says he also has his reserve, corrections deputies, road patrol and detectives going through the training for real hands on training.
