Big Bear, California

The strenuous manhunt for accused killer and ex-cop Christopher Dorner, is now focused on a burned-out cabin in Big Bear Lake, California. That's where a charred body was found and has since been removed.

After a week on the run, witnesses say they spotted Dorner on Tuesday afternoon not far from his burned truck was found last Thursday. Authorities said the suspect held two women hostage in a home.

Police say Dorner then stole another vehicle and led police on a chase, ditched that car and ran off. That led to an intense shootout.

After several hours, one officer reported hearing a single gun shot before the cabin was engulfed in flames.

Investigators are waiting to use forensic testing to positively identify the remains believed to be Dorner.

Police in Big Bear, California are now saying Christopher Dorner's body has not been found in a burned out cabin he used during a standoff with investigators.

We have an update on the latest developments coming out of what was a standoff situation in California. It is now believed the standoff in Big Bear is over and former Los Angeles police officer and accused killer, Christopher Dorner, is dead.

The cabin police believed Dorner barricaded himself in went up in flames around 8 p.m. Tuesday. A charred body was found inside of that cabin.

Just hours before the fire, police say Dorner broke into a home, tied up a couple and stole their car before escaping to the cabin. It was there he allegedly got into a shootout with police, killing one of those officers and injuring another.

Dorner had been charged with murder in the death of a Riverside police officer last Thursday. He was also accused of killing the daughter of his union representative and her fiance.

Stay tuned to Eyewitness News for more updates on this continuing story.

The cabin where ex-LAPD police officer Christopher Dorner is believed to be held up is now in flames.

Authorities say they had Dorner surrounded in the cabin in Big Bear, California. They say a report of a stolen vehicle in the area led them to him.

Police say once they got on the scene, Dorner exchanged gunfire with law enforcement officers. Investigators say two deputies were hit and one died from his injuries.

Police say they have not been advised any hostages were in the cabin with Dorner.
