A Raleigh County man faces multiple charges after deputies said he robbed two stores, fled the scene and crashed a vehicle into a deputy's vehicle and a building.
Carlos Burnside, 36, of Beaver was arrested following robberies that occurred Sunday evening at the One Stop on Harper Road and the Beaver Little General Store, according to a news release from the Raleigh County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office said a car was stolen about 7 p.m. from the Shell Station at Daniels. Minutes later, an armed robbery occurred at the One Stop on Harper Road. Deputies said the physical description of the robber matched the description of the same suspect for the stolen vehicle.
At 10 p.m., deputies said, the same suspect robbed the Beaver Little General Store. Within minutes, a deputy was pursuing a vehicle driven by the suspect. The vehicle rammed the deputy's crusier, and as other law enforcement officers closed in, crashed into a building on South Kanawha Street.
Deputies said Burnside was taken from the vehicle and was charged with grand larceny and two counts of armed robbery. Two other people had to be removed from the vehicle with emergency equipment and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The investigation is continuing, and the sheriff's office said others could face charges.
