A South Charleston man is behind bars accused of shooting a gun in the parking lot of a tire store.
According to a criminal complaint, 35-year-old David Nearhoof fired a loaded Smith&Wesson 40 caliber gun in the parking lot of Tire Land near several houses. At this time, it is unclear what provoked the incident.
Police say when they made contact with Nearhoof, he took off running. Officers say when they caught Nearhoof, he had to be restrained. He allegedly had the gun he fired in his right front pocket.
Nearhoof is charged with carrying a deadly weapon, fleeing on foot and shooting across a roadway. He is currently in the South Central Regional Jail on a $3,000 bond.
