A meth bust in Kanawha County lands three people behind bars.
According to court documents, a trooper tried to stop the driver of a Nissan SUV in the Jefferson area of Route 60 after he says he saw the female driver and a male passenger in an altercation.
Once the vehicle was stopped; the driver, Jodi Mandeville, allegedly told the trooper that Stephen Skaggs, a passenger in the car, hit her in the face when she refused to let him drive. Troopers say Mandeville did not have a drivers license, proof of insurance or registration on the vehicle.
The trooper says he could smell meth in the SUV and says Mandeville gave him permission to search the vehicle. That's when he allegedly found all ingredients used to make the drug throughout the vehicle and prescription pills on a third passenger, Ashley Keiffer.
Troopers say Skaggs, Keiffer and Mandeville all admitted that they were addicted to meth. Skaggs also allegedly told the trooper he had been drinking alcohol just hours before getting into the vehicle.
Skaggs, Keiffer and Mandeville all face numerous charges including attempting to operate a drug lab. They are currently in the South Central Regional Jail.
