A Huntington High School student who was suspended is facing charges after police said he was trespassing on school grounds with a gun.
On Thursday, a student who had been suspended briefly trespassed on the Huntington High School grounds, according to a news release from Cabell County Schools. The student left the campus before school started and was arrested miles away, school officials said. Law enforcement believes the student had a small caliber gun while he was trespassing on school property. However, officers did not believe there was a direct threat to the school. The student is now being held at a state facility.
Cabell County Schools wanted to make sure parents and the community were aware of the situation and that safety of the students is of the utmost importance, the release said. The Cabell County Sheriff's Department and the Huntington Police responded to the incident.
