Plans are in the works on the East End of Charleston for a historic African-American park.
City leaders came together to talk about a proposed partnership between the West Virginia Center for African-American Art and Culture, Charleston Urban Renewal and Charleston commissioners visitors bureau to develop the park.
In 2011, the city of Charleston designated a 25-acre area between Sixth Street and the state Capitol as a historical district.
Neighbors said the area is known for its African-American history and sites, and they hope it attracts businesses and more generations of people.
Plans for the green space park are still just being considered.
