LONGTIME CHEF DIES Veteran Chef Bill Sohovich Passes Away After Long Illness

Longtime Charleston restaurateur Bill Sohovich has died.
Family members said the 61-year-old chef, who had been battling illness for several months, died Wednesday night at Charleston Area Medical Center.
Besides his Italian restaurant at Capitol Market, Soho’s, Sohovich was probably best known for owning the former Blossom Deli on Quarrier Street. He closed the Blossom in 2010 after a 16-year run.
Sohovich also opened a restaurant named Billy's at Southridge. It specialized in comfort food, like chicken and dumplings and fried chicken. However he shut its doors after just a few months, citing a struggling economy and slow sales. However, Soho's, which he opened in 2002, is still flourishing, serving Italian food and some of the specialties from the Blossom Deli menu to full crowds for lunch and dinner.
Funeral arrangements have been made for the longtime Charleston native. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Snodgrass Funeral Home in South Charleston.
The funeral is planned for Monday at 1:00 p.m. in South Charleston.
