BALD EAGLE KILLED Public's Help Sought In Probe Of Eagle Death

The public's help is being sought in an investigation of the fatal shooting of a wild bald eagle in Hardy County.
A reward of up to $2,500 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Capt. Roy Cool with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources said the 22-year-old female eagle was found in a hayfield near the community of Old Fields on Nov. 18, 2012. It died en route to a rehabilitation facility in Morgantown.
Cool told the Charleston Gazette that tests indicated the eagle apparently was shot in flight.
DNR wildlife biologist Kieran O'Malley said the eagle was one of the oldest on record.
