Students and teachers at West Virginia State University are celebrating Black History Month. Today's ceremony was led by inspirational poetry and songs by a concert choir.
A sociologist and scholar from the University of North Florida talked to the students about race, gender and diversity issues. A program coordinator who acted in today's ceremony said she hopes to stress the importance of education for the future.
The ceremony was followed by a "Taste of Soul Food," where people could try several types of African American dishes.
