Huntington police said a suspect in a mugging was caught after following a trail of footprints in the snow that led them to him.
Paul J. Murphy, 41, of Huntington was charged with robbery.
On Friday, police responded to a victim of a robbery who said the suspect took two wallets and a cell phone from him, according to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court. Police said the victim described the suspect.
Police were able to follow a fresh set of footprints in the snow from the scene of the alleged crime to a location in the 2100 block of Eighth Avenue.
Police said the homeowner allowed them to search the residence where they said they discovered wet clothing that matched the description of what the suspect was wearing and the victim's cell phone under a couch.
Murphy was being held at the Western Regional Jail with a bond of $50,000.
