With the weather forecast calling for three to five inches of snow throughout Saturday and into Sunday in many areas, and even more in the mountain areas, people around Charleston headed to the grocery store to stock up.

"I heard it's going to be a bad one," said Jonathan Lasure of Charleston, who stocked up, "Eggs, bread, got some milk, some staples of course."

Ronald Gurnee of Charleston was at Green's Feed and Seed on Saturday picking up a few things to weather the snow.

"My wife she's going to the grocery store and I'm getting everything else ready."

The manager of the store, Mike Green, says customers came in for everything. They picked up things from pet food to electric blankets to snow shovels.

But one item has been hard to keep on the shelves.

"Well salt's been a big item," said Green, "We sold 2,400 bags of salt yesterday."

And although salt trucks will be hard at work throughout the snowfall, Patrolman Greg Lucas says staying home is your best bet.

"With the weather and the temperature where it's at, the ability for freezing is going to be quick. Really, if you don't need to be out stay home, stay warm."

And staying warm is just what Gurnee plans to do.

"That's why I'm getting everything ready for now. That way I can just sit on the couch and enjoy it. Let it come and take it's course. Stay warm and stay off the roads."
