The Kanawha County Commission said its telephone number is being used in a scam.
Commission President Kent Carper said the commission is working with Frontier Communications to resolve the matter.
A Putnam County resident notified the commission Thursday about receiving two calls from the commission's phone number. The caller asked for credit card and personal information.
Carper said residents who receive such calls should hang up. The commission's phone number is 304-357-0101.
