Fayette County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man who entered a home in Scarbro and fired a shot into the floor when one of the residents said he didn’t have any money.
Deputies said they received a report that a home invasion occurred about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 116 Blue Jay Road, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim, a 53-year-old man, was in his bedroom with two other people and the victim’s stepdaughter and a family friend were in the living room when a white male walked through an open front door, the release said.
Deputies said the suspect walked to the bedroom and demanded money from the victim. When the man said he did not have any money, the suspect fired one round into the floor of the residence and said, “I’m not kidding; I’m serious.” The suspect then turned and walked out of the residence without speaking or interacting with anyone else at the home.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the 911 center at 304-574-1610.
