Investigators are calling it a bizarre story out of Mason County.
Don Layton said he was working at his auto shop near his house in the Point Pleasant area of Mason County when the bark of his dog alerted him to an intruder in the garage at his house next door. Layton says a woman in her pajamas's had set a fire in his garage. He said when he approached the woman, she came at him with a gas tank which was on fire.
"Very scary," Layton said. "The gas can was actually on fire, she was just standing there holding it, thing she started flinging the flames at me. It was burning out the spout."
Layton said he threw a bucket at the woman, knocking the gas can out of her hand. Mason County Sheriff deputies say she then went inside his home and set a chair on fire.
Layton said he knew the woman lived nearby but says he never hand any involvement with her.
She's been taken to jail. Sheriff deputies are not releasing her name at this point, but say she's been charged with first degree arson and burglary.
Sheriff Greg Powers said more charges are pending.
