A man who was convicted in the 1980s for a sex crime pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to possession of child porn.
Jonathan Layne, 54, of Charleston admitted that he had hundreds of pictures of minors engaged in a sexually explicit manner on his home computer in 2008.
Layne was previously convicted of first-degree sexual abuse involving a minor in June 1989.
Layne now faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to 20 years in prison because of that previous conviction. He also faces a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced in May.
